Day 164
I got into a great running routine. I started running in new ways. Being a huge fan of nature and hiking, I started trail running. It was a great way to see more nature and get a different type of workout. Running had become a more consistent parfait of my life and I was truly enjoying it.
Then, we decided to move.
And while we did all the steps associated with moving, my running routine halted to a complete stop. I no longer made the time or felt I had the energy to run. My running muscles, both mental and physical, atrophied and my running mojo disappeared.
But once the move was completed, the itch to run returned.
But now I had to create new routes. Luckily for me, the Bug Line was still close, but not as convenient as before. The neighborhoods were sometimes more rural and in some cases more fancy than my old community. I was still able to connect with some of my new running buddies and enjoy a few miles with them.
But Father Time had taken its toll. I used to be able to just get up and run without much preparation and little to no after effects. Now, it took a while for me to get warmed up and my body let me know if I overdid it afterwards more than ever before. I guess that's why they say Father Time is undefeated.
While I do have to be a bit more savvy and strategic with my running these days. I do also have the possibility to trail run in my own backyard. One of the perks of building a trail through our land is that we can make it what we want to snake it. I look forward to it becoming a place where I can run and run and run some more in the convenience of my own backyard. I plan on continuing to trail run along the Ice Age Trail and other spots. I plan on running with my group and metaphorically tearing up the streets in our communities.
But now, if I choose, I can scratch that running itch right in my own backyard.
