Day 182 - Beer Me
All this egg talk has got me thirsty. While many know me as a ridiculously huge fan of Dr. Pepper and assorted carbonated beverages, I have been known to tip back a few adult beverages from time to time. I wouldn't consider my wife and I beer snobs yet, but we are certainly on the way. We love craft beer and take advantage of sitting outside a local brewery as often as we can. On a side note, I don’t understand the fascination with IPA’s. Give me a wheat beer, amber brew, or Kolsch-style ale any day of the week. And Oktoberfest. Yum!
When we had our initial construction of the chicken coops completed, I knew I wanted to add a bit of personality to the repurposed wood. Many silly and playful ideas swirled around my often adolescent brain until I came up with a simple yet creative and fun approach to coop decoration.
Being a craft beer connoisseur, I am especially fond and proud of Wisconsin-based breweries. With Brew City as my home, local beer is near and dear to my heart. My idea would repurpose another product, add a splash of color to the barn, and show off a bit of my playful (and thirsty) personality.
I had already started a collection of the cardboard six pack holders my favorite brews came in. Now I knew what to do with them. I also recruited friends and family to send more my way so that I could keep the collection growing strong.
I had enough of these containers to decorate the outside of multiple coops. Because of my surplus, one coop included only Wisconsin-based breweries while the other included everyone else.
With a staple gun in hand, I carefully organized and placed various beer packaging containers to create a rainbow of beer and flavor. As more beer is consumed, more decorations are added.
We encourage friends and family to join us in celebrating our property with a couple of cold ones.
With all the adventures and misadventures we have encountered so far in our restoration and renovation efforts, each drink was deserved.
Of course, we always were provided new reasons to enjoy even more.
