Day 187
I needed to move the trees and get the land prepared for mowing. I ran out of time and made a large wood pile instead. But it wasn't all due to laziness and/or scheduling issues. Even though I wasn't a South Park fan, I do remember a saying from the animated show. Blame Canada. So I will. I didn't get the job done and I blame Canada. The Canadian wilderness was dealing with terrible wildfires and the smoke from these fires was creating air quality issues to its neighbor to the South. While most of these issues tended to be on America’s east coast, the wind shifted and on the days I had scheduled to get the work done, Our area was under an air quality advisory. Because the conditions were considered unhealthy, the postponement of all unnecessary outdoor activity was recommended.
While moving the trees would be appreciated and helpful, I wouldn't consider it necessary. It just made the restoration that much easier.
That morning, I looked out over the land and saw what appeared to be the usual morning fog. However, the fog never lifted and only got thicker as the day progressed. My friend and I got some work done but as I mentioned, there was much more left to do. Either way, air quality issues forced us back inside.
Oddly enough, that same day, at the peak of the hazardous air quality issues outside, we had our air ducts scheduled for cleaning. To help with the process, we kept the windows open and needed to keep the doors open to allow the cleaning company’s large vacuum-esque hoses into the house.
So, on the day where we were recommended to stay inside with windows closed, we were working outside only to return to the house with windows and doors ajar.
The timing wasn't perfect but it was essential to clean our ducts after all of the renovation we had done. From pet dander to drywall dust to unwanted rodent debris, it was a necessity. The air quality inside improved dramatically as the air quality outside was seriously deteriorating.
The time to get things done before our scheduled mowing was running out.
