Day 232
I can’t imagine our life without pets. They have brought us so much joy over the years. They've also brought some interesting and sometimes unfortunate situations. There was the time my wife thought we lost our favorite cat ever only to find him in our front yard bush. There was the time we found out the hard way that one of our aquatic turtles was apparently cannibalistic. There were times we had to help some of our furry friends cross the rainbow bridge.the happy times outweigh the sad times, which is why we will always have pets, even when they drive us crazy.
Our current collection of animals certainly does just that. Nugget, our old man terrier, can barely see or hear, but his sniffer works better than ever. Charger the turtle loves his fresh lettuce and is still a popular attraction for the kids and their friends. Puma, our holdover kitty from the old house, is becoming more social at the ripe age of seventeen. She still prefers to lay on or near my head though. Our kitty siblings, Mittens and Shadow, keep us on our toes. When Mittens isn't catching mice, she’s inspecting every inch of the house, including the turtle tank. Shadow loves to squeeze himself into his favorite lounging spot: any one of our sinks.
We love our pets. We don't love some of the extra projects they force us to complete.
Throughout the house renovation process, we were making changes to the house. Moving rooms, changing layouts, and extra noise didn't make one of our cats very happy and she responded by letting us know with her urine. Every time we made an update, she peed somewhere she wasn't supposed to. While we were happy she eventually was consistent in her inconsistency, it was no good to have to clean the same couch cover every day because of her nerves and anxiety.
We knew we had to do something because renovations are still ongoing. Now, we get to add a new medication to the cat food twice a day. While the pee problem seems to be in a much better place, our animals will keep us entertained and educated.
