Day 255
Even though the brunt of our restoration work this year is behind us and our renovation work is essentially complete for now, we still get regular visitors to the farm and we are sure to get even more as autumn approaches.
As the garden continues to thrive, we will have people come grab some fruits and vegetables.
We will continue to have egg friends come by to get their fill of fluffy butt nuggets.
Soon, our hunting friends will come to see if they can get up close and personal with Bambi.
But we also have a few more potential visits.
Our contractor friend who helped with our first floor remodel may return to help upgrade electricity and add windows to the barn.
Our tree/dumpster man may continue to drop wood chips and move logs to improve our natural play area.
We may host our 4H friends and families for our Halloween picnic. We might add a little spook to the trail to make it a chilling adventure for our guests.
I’ve also offered up our property to my native plant club . I think many of the members would love to explore our land in the early stages of the restoration and hear the story of what we hope it can become. I think I would also benefit from their knowledge as they would be sure to point out lots of plants I have missed or misidentified or missed altogether.
However, two upcoming scheduled visitors are especially intriguing.
Ina few weeks, a representative form the county’s land use department will come here to tour our land and see if they can help with any restoration funding through a variety of programs they are associated with.
Then, a few weeks after that, we'll be hosting another representative from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to discuss funding options and programs. We’ve already started the process of working with them with a stewardship plan so it will be exciting to see if we can take that plan to the next level.
Above and beyond these visitors, I am sure clothes will make their way to the farm. We’ll be ready to show them a good time.
