Day 327
Today is Thanksgiving. Being constantly caught up in the frantic frenzy we call life, I rarely take the time to appreciate all my blessings and the wonderful people in my life who have helped me get to where I am. When I look out into the beautiful backyard I am fortunate enough to call home, I often forget to take a second and be thankful. Mother Nature certainly gets a huge chunk of the thanks, but plenty of others helped us along the way.
Thanks to my mother-in-law for finding this property and sharing it with us.
Thanks to my lovely wife for not ignoring me when I laughed at the thought of acquiring it.
Thanks to our realtor for guiding us along the unique and often unusual acquisition journey.
Thanks to the previous owner for providing plenty of fodder for me to start this writing adventure.
Thanks to my three kids for being flexible and trust by uprooting themselves from the only house and neighborhood they’d ever known.
Thanks to the parade of contractors who helped us through project after project.
Thanks to the nature and restoration professionals who offered advice and support in transforming our land.
Thanks again to my lovely wife for being the project manager for our renovations and being so irresponsible and forward thinking along the way.
Thanks to countless neighbors who offered their support and supplies in innumerable projects big and small.
Thanks to my Ice Age Trail friends who offered information and action in helping us design and improve our trail.
Thanks to community members for honking and waving hello, even if I rarely get a chance to see who you are.
Thanks to anyone and everyone I forgot along the way.
Did I thank my lovely wife yet? Thanks to her for putting up with my occasionally overzealous and overexcited planning.
We are in the early stages of our time at Craneview on Plainview. I know there will be many more people to thank as we create more opportunities and overcome obstacles in our farm life.
If I have failed to say it now or if I regrettably forget to say it in the future. THANK YOU.
