Day 350
I used to love being lazy. I remember looking forward to days where I wouldn't leave the couch. Maybe it’s because I have three kids, three jobs, and a farm to work on, but I am now a busybody. In fact, I’ve noticed I often have a hard time sitting still for extended periods of time. I like being busy and I have plenty to do. When I am caught up on chores (if that’s even possible), I feel like I actually look for something to do rather than relax. But when I do find the time to do nothing, the couch is my place and lying down is my position. I usually have a blanket and at least two pillows. Once I get comfortable, I plan to be there for the long haul. And I get some help.
In fact, I often get lots of help.
We have three cats, a turtle, a dog, and a partridge in a pear tree. For some reason or another, when I find a spot on the couch, a few of these furry friends soon join me.
Our oldest cat, Puma, is becoming more and more personable as she ages. White she is still hidden for most of the day, she does tolerate the kids petting her on occasion and even puts up with an occasional kid squeeze. When couch time comes, she really turns up the kitty charm. She tends to plant herself right on my upper chest and usually faces away from me. In other words, her kitty butt is always right near my face. Lucky me.
Once she is comfortable and settled, Nugget, our slightly younger pooch, follows up with laying on or near my lower half. In his old age, he is getting more antsy and jittery. At night time, he bounds (and I use that term very loosely) from couch spot to couch spout until finally settling in.
If I happen to stay awake long enough to transfer upstairs to my bed, a parade of animals usually follows me. It is not surprising to find me pinned down in my bed by a collection of kitties and one lazy dog.
I love it.
