Day 41 - Farm Pets

 Even before we lived on a farm, we had plenty of animal friends. Perts have always played a huge role in our lives, so moving to a farm would certainly only enhance this role. Initially entering farm life with a cat, a dog, and a turtle, it wasn't long before we added to the menagerie. 

When we were looking into buying the farm, we reached out to farm owners in our social circles to visit their farms and gain information about the process to make sure we knew what we were getting ourselves into. One such visit provided valuable information and so much more.

When my wife told me about this upcoming visit, I knew the kids needed to come along. They had an important job to do. Because selling a house and moving into a farm wasn’t busy enough, we decided it was time to recruit some new kitties to the mix. With all the stress the move had put the kids through, we knew this would not only lift their spirits, but give them a sense of ownership and pride for their new home.

It was hard not leaving that day with the kittens, but we managed to get just enough kitty love to hold us over until we had settled into the new house and got everything ready for the friendly felines. The cats were a joy to watch scamper around the farm, but when we were able to wrangle them enough for a quick squeeze, it was love at first sight. The girls had a ball picking out their kitty of choice and even though we didn’t take the kitties home that day, their names were already chosen.

The anticipation of picking up the kittens made the final preparations of planning and moving much easier to handle. When the time had come to bring these fluffballs to our new home, we were excited and a bit worried about how our established, veteran dog and cat might react. 

Luckily, the introductions went smoothly and despite a few inevitable new pet problems, we avoided any major issues.

This was much appreciated, as some other animal-related issues had arisen.
