Day 59 - Podcast?
While we played “the return of the RCG” waiting game, my wife and I had numerous chats about potential side projects. We were still debating about what the future of the farm looked like. Even though ourtime living at the farm was relatively short, the ups and downs of each and every day felt like we had been there a lifetime. Each adventure taught us something new, good, bad, and indifferent. They also provided unexpected and seemingly neverending obstacles that forced us into new challenges and situations. When we zigged, the farm zagged. Things had happened to us that forced us to laugh because otherwise, we would be constantly crying. We literally had no idea what was coming next but we knew whatever it was, it was sure to be engaging.
When our kids earn screen time, they often find entertainment on YouTube kids. Pardon me sounding like an old curmudgeon, but what they watch seems so silly and trite. They watch videos of people playing video games. They watch videos of kids playing with and reviewing toys. They watch people watching videos and commenting about the videos they are watching on video. Are you as confused as I? My wife and I always wondered how people found entertainment in things we found so trivial.
Similarly, we found ourselves listening to different podcasts for our own entertainment.
Then it hit us.
It seemed like any old schmo could create a podcast about any old topic and find success. Could we be the next schmos to give it a go? Would our farm story be entertaining for others to hear?
Our general conversations with friends and family seemed like the answer could be a yes.
We started brainstorming potential titles and topics. We even researched equipment and actually ordered some of it to start recording episodes and share a Craneview on Plainview podcast with the world.
Like many projects on the farm, momentum is fleeting. Something else is sure to present itself and stop progress dead in its tracks.
We have the microphone. Maybe one of these days we will actually take it out of the box.
Until then, these 365-word stories will have to do.
