Day 95 - Let the Sun Shine
We knew installing solar would be an investment. A pretty serious one. It would take some time for it to pay for itself. In our investigations, we had learned many new things and were trying to figure out if the investment was worth it considering we had a number of other projects that we wanted and needed to get completed. Many factors played a role in making the decision of if we would install panels and what company should do the installation. Besides the financial investment, we factored in other information including our monthly usage, our desire to acquire an electric vehicle, and the timing of the project and how it might connect with other projects. Knowing the solar installation was requiring trenching to the barn, we didn't want it to interfere with landscaping projects on the horizon. We also had to figure out what one company gave us a more powerful system than the other? Even though the more powerful system was actually quoted lower, if we didn't need such a powerful system, we could save money with a less powerful one. We reached out to the latest company and showed them our second quote. Since that company had a comparable price, we wondered about their thoughts about the difference in systems offered.
Ultimately, the representative from the third company helped seal the deal. Besides saying he had heard good things about the second company, he also mentioned that the offer was great and it was unlikely he would be able to match. We honored his request to at least check with his boss. A few days later, his response made it crystal clear the direction we would take. He said to take the deal.
So we did.
The second company came to the farm a few days later to sign the paperwork and discuss the potential timeline. We were very happy with the service received, comfortable with the relationship we had forged, and edited about the project to come. We looked over the contract, asked a few more questions, and put pen on paper to make it official.
But as soon as the ink dried, it was time to get back to work.
