Big Body Play

In my educational journey, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many other dedicated educators and professionals focused on building strong, healthy children, schools, and community. Similarly, I’ve been blessd to share my story in presentations and conferences across the country and made connections with attendees of these conferences and presentations.

Recently, one such individual reached out to me after watching my virtual presentation on play with a desire to connect. Having had similar requests before, I was excited as I am always eager to connect with individuals with like minded philosophies on what kids need and how we can best help them get those needs met in the schools.

After finding a mutual time to chat on the phone, I was impressed with Preston Blackburn’s enthusiasm and excitement about movement, exercise, and the importance of getting kids out of their seats. It was equally rejuvenating to be able to share my own perspectives.

Funny thing, earlier that same day, I had started thinking about what it might be like to connect with other play professionals and play-based classrooms during the school year in what I termed play partners. I mentioned it to Preston and she was on board just about instantly.

It’s always great to make new play pals and continue pressing forward with promoting the power of play. This Play Partners program will do just that. Not sure what it will be yet, but excited t0 get it going!
