Busybody
Good intentions can only take you so far. I really, really wanted to document 1,000 laps around our fan’s trail in 2024. I really did. However, as it usually does, life got in the way. My kids engrossed themselves in a variety of activities, Whether it be 4H, tae kwon do, softball, forensics, scouts, swimming, hockey, or ski club, my wife and I need a spreadsheet to figure out our schedules.
Personally, I also took on some new teaching responsibilities. Besides continuing in kindergarten, I now have two other adjunct positions., I am now the sole instructor for the nature-based early childhood certification program at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater while also teaching various night courses at Waukesha County Technical College. I truly enjoy the new adventures and opportunities to expand my work with others but it does take a toll on my energy level.
While my time on the WAEE board came to an end, I added board positions for the International Play Association and Wild Ones! Native Plants. While keeping me busy, I think these opportunities will be wonderful assets to me in my goal to be a lifelong learner and spread awareness of my passions to others.
I also have some personal goals of getting back into running and pursuing my dream of publishing picture books. Shameless plug alert, but have you bought you copy of https://www.redleafpress.org/Teaching-Off-Trail-My-Classrooms-Nature-Transformation-through-Play-P2622.aspx
As they say, life is all about balance so I’m losing hair and gaining weight. On a more serious note, I am looking to make better choices to create a better home-life balance.
