Day 14 - Frozen
Speaking of the happiest place on Earth, intertwined with negotiating for a new house and preparing ours for a possible sale was a trip to Disney World. Since it was a surprise trip and our kids were none the wiser, we thought about saving money and time by canceling the trip. Needing a break from the chaos and knowing our children deserved and quite frankly needed a special moment after a school year and the stressors of a move, we opted to keep the trip intact. This gave us an extra incentive to clean and clear the house as much as we could so that showings could happen in our absence. Before we left, our realtor came by to discuss everything and was impressed with what he saw. He saw how much more space a new coat point and furniture removal gave to the main jewel of the house, the open concept kitchen. He smartly decided to increase the listing price. We were fine with this as we knew houses were often going over market price so the higher our listing was, the higher offers could potentially be. Since we already budgeted according to the original listing price he recommended, any additional money would be icing on the cake.
The house was as ready as it was gonna get. It was time to step out of the whirlwind and enjoy some family time together before the winds picked up again. This was our second trip to Disney and the first for our youngest child. We were thrilled with the sight and sounds of this spectacular place. However, we couldn't help but be distracted and preoccupied with what was going on back home. We checked (and probably overchecked) the showing schedule. Showings started on a Friday and although the schedule wasn't as packed as we thought it would be, there was enough interest that we thought good news might be coming our way sooner than later.
Waiting in line at the Frozen Ever After experience, I happened to check my phone as an email from our agent titled “Offer Received” came through. The email began, “I don't think it’s going to get any better than this.”
