Day 235
We make our car purchases from a friend. His dealership is about an hour away so it’s a bit of an adventure every time we need to head to the dealership. While it is great to take this opportunity to catch up with him, we hope to avoid extra hour-long excursions if we can.
With our EV, we couldn’t. And it started early.
Literally the morning after we drove our EV home for the first time, we got a message from the dealership saying they needed it back. Unbeknownst to all parties involved, there was an important recall that needed to be taken care of right away. We were also informed that this particular dealership was the only EV dealer in the area so we would not be able to get the problem fixed at any other dealer for now. While it wasn't a safety issue. It was a bit of an inconvenience. The dealer had a salesman drive to the farm to make an exchange. Not only did we get another brand new car to enjoy while ours was fixed, we got a hundred dollar gas card.
A few weeks later, we got the call that our car was ready for pickup. We made the trek to the dealer, enjoyed a few complimentary snacks and beverages, and got the EV hoping the issues behind us.
For a few weeks, it was.
The recall issue was resolved. A new issue surfaced. The screen used to show information about the car, control the climate, display the radios, and is used for many if the car’s functions would blackout and restart in cycles. While it was once again not a safety issue, it was inconvenient and even more annoying. After consulting with the dealer, a car was delivered to the house with a second hundred dollar gas card. Interestingly enough. It was the same car used as a borrowed car earlier. More interesting was that the dealer provided gas cards when issues arose with a car that didn’t use gas.
The screen issue was resolved much quicker and our EV was finally officially up and running.
Now we could turn our attention to much more important things.
