Day 264
This post is more about wishing me the best of luck. One of the things that really drew us to the property we now call home is that it was connected to a land conservancy. In our investigations, we found out this preserve is managed by the same conservancy we volunteered for at our old house. We also learned this preserve was created as a requirement of the construction of the golf course. There would be a preserve on each end of the golf course acting as a natural buffer between neighboring private properties. So ultimately, as long as there was a golf course, a sizable tract of land connected to our backyard would be protected from development. Knowing we already had a relationship with this conservancy, we couldn’t help but imagine if we could take on a role with them to help improve both properties.
It is still a dream. But we might be one step closer to making it a reality.
We’ve made great progress in restoring our property. While there is a long way to go. The restoration has improved the land dramatically and opened our eyes to the beauty it truly offers. We look forward to sharing this with others.
That being said, we have a hard time stopping when we see an opportunity. Collaborating with this conservancy opens up the possibility of improving the preserve in a way that we can extend the work we are doing into the preserve, making it mutually beneficial. Improving one helps the other. If we remove invasives from one property, less invasive seeds will travel into and potentially inhabit the other. Improving the land in one space attracts wildlife that should help diversify the other. Selfishly, I am excited to have a trail created through the conservancy. Not only will it help define boundaries that haven’t really been established before, it will allow access to a new area to explore and improve. In my mind, I see so much promise. Spo much potential. So much possibility.
I’d appreciate any good videos you can send our way to see if we can jumpstart a brand new community opportunity to be enjoyed for years to come.
