Day 29 - Battle at the Barn

Anyone who knows my family knows we are fans of professional wrestling, Now before you judge us, please know that we were both raised in families that followed professional wrestling so it is kind of in our blood. You can take people out of wrestling, but you can't take the wrestling out of people. On a side note, it's not fake, it’s scripted. That's an important distinction.

Either way, when investigating possible uses for the farm and the barn, one that started off as  a joke was hosting a wrestling show. A Battle at the Barn, some might say.

I can see the lights, hear the entrance music, and feel the electricity of the crowd. We envisioned a ring smack dab in the middle of the barn. Wrestlers could leap from the loft pinto unsuspecting opponents below. Gimmicky characters and controversial finishes would make it memorable and full of family fun.

Besides some fun chats and imaginative ideas, this concept has not gained much traction. At least not yet. But one element of wrestling is much more likely and much easier to create as part of our farm.

One of our favorite wrestlers has a personality that is just downright cool. Besides reinventing his character over a thirty year career, he consistently puts over younger talent, performs at a high level, and is pure comedic gold. On top of that, he is also a rockstar, author, and podcaster. My wife and I love the man, the myth, the legend. Chris Jericho. One of his finishers is called the “Walls of Jericho.”  In his homage, we thought about creating a wrestling themed section of the barn, affectionately called the “Stall of Jericho.” Though we haven't yet started putting the stall together, it is very much a possibility and certainly something we would have an enjoyable time creating and updating.

This made us think of how we could create a rotation of stalls based on all sorts of fun and unique ideas. Then of course we realized we might want to reserve stalls for actual farm needs. The ideas were flying around our ideas like a tornado until a windstorm brought everything to a grinding halt. Literally.
