Day 340
As soon as I added the new inflatables, the skies opened up and our farm turned into a real life snow globe. The fat fluffy flakes were followed by absolutely perfect packing snow. Even though the sun had gone away and night had fallen, the forecast predicted warmer temperatures over the next few days. With the threat of the fresh blanket of snow disappearing as fast as it appeared, the kids took advantage and spent two hours enjoying the snow. While I shoveled the driveway and a path in the back for our elderly pup, the laughs and giggles of kids in the snow echoed throughout the yard. Of course, the kids each created their own snowman. With sticks for arms and rocks for facial features, their new characters weren’t complete until they grabbed an extra scarf from inside and added it. Once their snowmen were completed, their collaboration turned into competition. They each decided to try and make the world’s biggest snowball. Their friendly banter turned into a bit of bragging and boasting, but they held it together. Watching them push large balls of snow around the room was as enjoyable for me as it was exhausting for them. Of course, once it got too heavy for them, they recruited me to assist. Needing some exercise, I jumped right in. We ended up with a nice parade of snowballs and snowmen on each side of our inflatable family.
After nearly two hours, we decided to go warm up with some hot cocoa and a holiday movie. While we sipped the sweet treat, we shared our thoughts about how we would add to the snow creations the next day. We decided that in the morning, we’d fill up spray bottles with a mixture of food coloring and water and paint the snow. When the sun came up the next day and the kids lazily rolled out of bed, ready to play, they were disappointed. The grass was already poking through much of the once snow-covered lawn because the temperatures had steadily risen.
We’ll have to wait for more snow to enjoy our snow painting adventure. Until then, I'm sure we’ll keep ourselves busy and entertained.
