Snow Much Art

As the snow finally melts away (hopefully until next winter), our class celebrates by creating one final snowman. Of course, not able to use actual snow, we practice various art styles.

My art instruction tends to include more freedom and flexibility. I like to share different ideas and types of art, but want the students to have control an d decision-making over what works best for their creative expression. Often, this creates a messier and louder working environment, but ultimately, it allows for a more robust and engaged outpouring of creativity.

Our Welcome to Spring snowman incorporates the bright colors and bursting life associated with the new beginnings of spring. With a torn paper base, watercolor midsection, and glittery face, the students are able to create a unique and diversified piece of art that celebrates the end of one season and the start of another.
