Breakfast Anyone?
When I decided to “bring kindergarten back” by incorporating a more play-based approach, I knew that there would definitely be a shift in how my students responded to their new classroom.
Every day, my students surprise me with how they use supplies and toys in the classroom. Now, I do often refer to the toys as tools as we do often utilize various materials across the curriculum. However, no matter how I think the class might use a tool, they find a way to do something I hadn’t thought of.
These exciting surprises may seem like they can be problematic (and at times they are), but more often than not, their creativity and excitement overtake any anxiety I have about providing them the time, space, and opportunity to play.
Plus, every day, the kids make me a unique and always delicious breakfast. ;)
