Nature’s Palette
When people ask what my favorite season is, I tend to always say the one that is farthest away. On steamy summer, I long for snowshoeing and the crisp chill of winter. With frostbitten face in the middle of February, I long for sun and sweat of an August afternoon.
However, I always, and I mean always, long for fall. I adore wearing the combination of hooded sweatshirts and shorts. Playoff baseball and football weekends are hard to top. Any brewery’s version of Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Pie Blizzards form Dairy Queen are delicious. Hiking is amazing. . . .not too hot, not too cold, no mosquitoes! I’ve joked with my fellow teachers that we should push for a January through September school year, just so we can have more of fall at our disposal. I think kids (and adults) would love it.
But the colors of the season are what get me every time. Nature’s palette is in full display in fall and it is quite a sight to see. And feel. And taste.
